Queen's park will be hosting a summit on September 29 where MPP Mike Colle invited representatives from the health ministry, Toronto Community Housing, landlord associations, tenant groups and the pest control sector to raise awareness and generate solutions. The summit is a follow-up to the Renters’ Right to Know Act, a private member’s bill tabled by Colle in June, which would require landlords to provide a bedbug information report to let prospective tenants know if there are or may have been bedbug problems in their buildings in the past five years. It has not yet passed but MPP Colle has received a lot of support. Attached is a copy of the proposed amendment to Bill 94.
Hi everyone, Please click on this link to check for or report bedbugs in your current accommodation: http://bedbugregistry.com/search/ It is also wise to check addresses of hotels, hospitals, churches, etc. beforehand, to see if there was a reported infestation, so as to ensure you don't take them home with you. If you are planning to go on a visit to some city, then you can refer to this site to find out the names of hotels, resorts, etc. which are free of the bedbugs complaints. As stated on this website: "The Bed Bug Registry exists to give travelers and renters a reliable and neutral platform for reporting their encounters with bed bugs. Though most Americans have still never come across one one, these retro pests are spreading extremely quickly across American and Canadian cities. Bed bugs are easy to transport in luggage and very hard to get rid of. For this reason they have become a nuisance for hotels, dorms, hospitals, movie theaters, libraries, and other public spaces. You can't tell whether a building or hotel room has them based on cleanliness - the bugs can thrive anywhere there are cracks and crevices to hide in. Until a reliable, safe pesticide becomes available, avoiding bed bug encounters will be the only reliable way to ensure they don't spread into your own home. " Let's keep it up.. its our home our community our Landmark Family...
